On May 21, 2022 there will be a celebration of Black voices including Black authors, Black artists and more. This event is being organized by Artful Life in collaboration with North Shore Juneteenth Association. Celebrating Black Voices: Collaborative Art-making and Book Fair will take place at the Artful Life Counseling Center and Studio, 142P Canal Street, Salem, MA 01970
This event will consist of a book fair with books for all ages curated by Copper Dog Books on the first floor with plenty of fresh air from Artful Life’s open glass garage door. The books will be by Black authors or deal with Social Justice issues and 10% of profits will go to benefit North Shore Juneteenth Association. There will also be tables hosted by young Black artists and additional organizations.
A collaborative art making will be available in the art studio. In honor of Alma Thomas (1891-1978), an accomplished Black American artist who was known for her large scale abstract paintings. Guests will be able to create their own artwork in Thomas’ style that speaks to the theme of the event, celebrating Black voices, and learn more about Alma Thomas.
Artful Life Counseling Center and Studio is so excited to collaborate with North Shore Juneteenth and Copper Dog Books for this celebration of the community coming together to celebrate Black Voices! This event is free and open to the public and is on Saturday May 21 from 12pm to 3pm.
