The Ghost Sonata by August Strindberg, Translated by Harry G. Carlson

August Strindberg's The Ghost Sonata relates the adventures of a young student, Arkenholz, who idealizes the lives of the residents of an opulent apartment building. He makes the acquaintance of a mysterious man who helps him find his way into the building, where he meets the inhabitants - the colonel; his wife, their beautiful daughter, the Young Lady, and the Mummy; as well as various guests and servants. Arkenholz soon discovers that the house he admired from afar is a nest of betrayal, deceit, corruption and misery. Half in the real world and half in a psychological netherworld, the play explores the extreme grotesque side of the human psyche and a ceaseless desire for acquiring ?more?, no matter what the cost. For mature audiences. Directed by Jerry L.
